The topics of ‘Przegląd Zachodni’ in 2014
- The main task of ‘Przegląd Zachodni’ issue 1/2014 will be an attempt to estimate the condition of German society and the results of elections. The consequences of the new political system will provide the characteristic of the internal situation and ensuing from this fact external policy. It has got importance for the prescience of German European policy and Polish-German relations.
The present Polish-German relations and the condition of German studies will be analysed in this context.

- ‘Przegląd Zachodni’ issue 2/2014 will be dedicated to the different kinds and forms of memory, the very significant component of human experience and the reproduction of the past. Many scientists are very interested in the variety of past events and experience remembrance, the attempts of their interpretation and various kinds of commemorating.
We have to underline that especially many ordinary people are interested in matters mentioned above, because their real lives were connected with intense events (e.g. wars, the change of borders, the formation of new states etc.)
Every generation of scientists, particularly historians try to estimate and verify the reminiscences of societies which were caused by enormous memorable historical changes (e.g. in 2014 there is a centennial anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War, a seventy- five-year anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War, a seventy-year anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising and twenty five years of new political reality in Poland).

- The main problem of ‘Przegląd Zachodni’ issue 3/2014 will be the demographic changes after 1989 in Poland which are perceived not only by Polish people but also but neighbouring countries, especially by Germany and the European Union. In connection with the seventy-year anniversary of the Institute for Western Affairs there will be jubilee texts and articles concerning the cooperation of a scientific institution with a state, and referring to the role of the Institute for Western Affairs, the tradition of research which has been done by institute’s researchers, particularly research on Western-and Northern-lands, scientific postulates in the area of continuing and creating new research directions in this region.

- The fourth ‘Przegląd Zachodni’ 4/2014 will concentrate on the European issues, first of all on the role of Europe in the world and its abilities of influence on international relations. The particular subject of considerations will be search for the new directions of the future development of the European Union (the improving or enlargement of integration), mutual policies and the expected consequences of chosen strategy, European Neighbourhood Policy and the decade balance of Poland’s participation in the Union Structures.
