Na terenie RFN działa około 100 polskich organizacji. Choć historia polskiego ruchu w Niemczech sięga połowy XIX w., to jednocześnie nasza wiedza na ich temat jest stosunkowo niewielka – albo dotyczy ona aspektów historycznych, albo – jeśli chodzi o aktualny ich stan i działalność – jest fragmentaryczna. Może o tym świadczyć fakt, że w dyskursie publicznym często pojawiają się tezy o słabości organizacji wywołanej przede wszystkim ich wewnętrznym rozbiciem czy „skłóceniem”. Czy jednak ten popularny wizerunek jest prawdziwy? Czy organizacje te rzeczywiście pogrążone są w chronicznym kryzysie? A jeśli tak, jakie mogą być rzeczywiste przyczyny ich sytuacji? Na pytania te spróbuję odpowiedzieć opierając się na wynikach badań własnych prowadzonych w Instytucie Zachodnim od 2008 r. Opiszę najważniejsze cechy polskich organizacji w Niemczech i postaram się wskazać na uwarunkowania, które miały wpływ na ich ukształtowanie.

Germany is home to approximately one hundred Polish organizations. Although the history of the Polish movement in Germany dates back to the mid-19th century, the available knowledge on the movement is relatively sketchy and either limited to historical facts or, with respect to the present standing and activities, only cursory. This is evidenced by the fact that the public discourse frequently labels given organizations as weak due judging them mainly on inner rifts and arguments. Is this popular belief true? Have organizations indeed succumbed to a permanent crisis? If so, what are the true causes of their quandaries? I attempt to address these questions on the basis of the research I have conducted at the Institute for Western Affairs since 2008. I have embarked on defining the most prominent features of Polish organizations in Germany and identifying the factors that have contributed to their present condition.

In der Bundesrepublik Deutschland sind ca. 100 polnische Organisationen tätig. Obwohl die Geschichte der polnischen Bewegung in Deutschland auf das 19. Jh. zurückgeht, sind unsere Kenntnisse zu diesem Thema relativ gering bzw. sie beziehen sich auf die historischen Aspekte, oder auch, wenn es um gegenwärtigen Stand und Handlungen geht, sind sie eher lückenhaft. Davon zeugt z.B. die Tatsache, dass es in dem öffentlichen Diskurs oft Thesen über die Schwäche der Organisation aufgrund ihres internen Zerfalls und “Entzweiung” gibt. Ist aber das allgemein bekannte Bild wirklich wahr? Befinden sich die Organisationen wirklich in einer andauernden Krise? Und wenn ja, welche können die tatsächlichen Ursachen dafür sein? Diese Frage versuche ich zu beantworten, und zwar seit 2008 mit meinen persönlichen Forschungen am Instytut Zachodni. Ich beschreibe die wichtigsten Merkmale polnischer Organisationen in Deutschland und versuche, auf die Bedingungen hinzuweisen, die zu einem solchen Stand geführt haben.
