No. 135 - German Granddaughters, German Grandsons
Institute for Western Affairs' Bulletin (No. 135/2013) Prof. Zbigniew Mazur, "German Granddaughters, German Grandsons"
In Germany's strategy of handling inconvenient history, the country tends to be portrayed as a "regular" state and nation no different than France or the UK with similar "perpetrators" and "victims", ups and downs, bright and dark sides of history. This precisely is the direction in which the "relativization discourse" is headed with its two distinctive currents rooted firmly in tradition: "the discourse of victims" and "the discourse of exoneration".
