„Institute for Western Affairs' Bulletin" no 57/2011: prof. dr hab. Artur Wejkszner - Osama bin Laden's death and its impact on the level of security in Europe.

Definitely, Osama bin Laden was among the jihadists with a substantial authority in a radical Muslim circles. His death in an American anti-terrorist action on 2 May 2011 in Abbottabad, Pakistan has had a significant impact on the global jihadist movement. The majority of comments, analyzing the effects of the above action, emphasizes its negative impact on the level of terrorist activity and a significant weakening of the jihadist leadership within the jihadist movement. A deep analysis of the position and role of Osama bin Laden in the al-Qaeda and - wider - salafi jihadist movement - can lead to different conclusions.
