No 59 - The development or stagnation? Polish-German cultural cooperation after the signing of the treaty on good neighborliness and friendly cooperation
For years, cooperation and cultural exchange between Poland and the Federal Republic of Germany was the sphere of life, which developed more or less intensively, in a sense, regardless of the political relations between the two countries. Also in the last two decades, it has been implemented on many levels: governmental, national, regional, municipal and institutional. Political and constitutional transformations in Poland and in Central and Eastern Europe in the late eighties and early nineties meant that conditions of foreign cultural policy and the realities of cultural cooperation have changed significantly - opened up the possibility of establishing cultural dialogue on different principles. The disappearance of political and ideological barriers contributed to the increase of possibilities of initiatives by various entities, cultural institutions and individuals.
