The re-election of Barack Obama means that the previous direction in the American foreign policy will be maintained to a significant degree. Will it have any influence on the Transatlantic relations and the role and position of Europe in the American external strategy? The answer to this question seems much easier today than it was four years ago. America will keep its orientation towards the Pacific and it is up to Europe to maintain its rank in the American policy.
