Mitteleuropa rediviva? Europa Środkowo- i Południowo-Wschodnia w polityce zjednoczonych Niemiec

The reunification of Germany in 1990 has led to the rise of an enormous state with a strong economic and population potential, a state which on account of its membership in the European Union and NATO has begun to manifest no mean ambitions to play leading role in Europe. At the same time the eventful political changes in its immediate vicinity have forced Germany to pursue an external policy aimed at ensuring a turmoil-free transformation in East-Central and South-Eastern Europe.
The author analyses Germany's political, economic and social engagement in to region from the Baltic and the Bug river to the Black Sea and the Adriatic and compares it with the situation in 1918 and 1989. The book will make it easier for readers to decide whether there are grounds for fearing the United Germany and its active policy towards its eastern and south-eastern neighbours, whether Mitteleuropa has really been revived.
