Przed półwieczem... Ziemia Lubuska w obiektywie

The research which the Institute for Western Affairs in Poznań has been conducting since 19955 into the German cultural legacy in the Western and Northern Territories has induced the scholars taking part in the research to make use of the photographs gathered by the successive expeditions organised from Poznań in the post-war years. The album in question concerns only the Lubusz land, an extremely interesting region as regards landscape and culture. It was penetrated by Polish, German, and Czech influences. The Institute's first expedition took place as early as 1947-1948. The album shows not only the beauty of the region but also the widespread destruction caused by the war. Care has been taken to choose photographs which will interest present-day readers, in particular the former and present inhabitants of the Lubusz region. The publication has been brought out thanks to the financial assistance of the PKO BP bank.
