Scholarship of the Institute for Western Affairs for the realization of scientific research in the area of the history of Poland in the years 1939-1945

The Institute for Western Affairs in Poznań announces a competition for a scholarship for the realization of a scientific research project in the area of the history of Poland in the years 1939-1945 with special reference to the history of the German occupation.  

• To qualify for the scholarship the applicant must be a research scholar employed in a scientific institution with its seat outside the territory of the Republic of Poland, have documented scientific achievements and conduct or intend to conduct scientific research in the area of the history of Poland during the Second World War. Preference will be given to projects concerning the history of the German occupation.
• The scholarship is granted for a period of 2 to 6 months. The scholarship is realized on the territory of Poland; the Institute for Western Affairs does not pay for research conducted abroad.
• The decision of awarding the scholarship is taken by the Director of the Institute for Western Affairs on the basis of recommendation of a committee specially created to this end. The Institute reserves the right to shorten the duration of the scholarship applied for.
• The scholarship holder receives a monthly amount of 1200 euros (in PLN according to the current exchange rate). No additional benefits are paid (e.g. travel costs reimbursement).
• The deadline for submitting applications for the scholarship realized in 2020 expires on November 30, 2019.

 The application for the scholarship should contain the following:

1. title of the project;
2. short description of the project (up to one page);
3. detailed description of the project (together with a presentation of the state of research done so far);
4. research schedule with proposed starting date;
5. list of the applicant’s publications to date;
6. letter of recommendation from a historian from the applicant’s country of origin;
7. letter of recommendation from a Polish historian who has an academic degree of habilitated doctor at the least.
