The new issue of bimonthly "WeltTrends" No. 97

The new issue of Polish-German bimonthly "WeltTrends" No. 97 (July/August) has been published by Welttrends Förderverein and the Institute for Western Affairs. 

One of the main topics is the relationship between the funds earned due to extraction of natural resources and the power and state ("Ressource. Macht. Staat"). Five authors analyse among others negative social consequences arising from the predatory exploitation of natural resources (mainly oil, gas, coal, gold, diamonds and minerals) in Africa and South America. They are: violence, increasing authoritarian tendencies, corruption or environmental degradation.

Finally, the new issue includes book reviews and conference reports.
